Henning & Madi

My dear friend Madali (we studied together at Stellenbosch university both completing a degree in Visual Communication design / Graphic design) and her family have been living in Sydney, Australia since the beginning of 2008. I was over the moon when she asked me to be her wedding photographer this year in Manly, Sydney. It was a whirlwind trip of only 6 days and now reliving all the special moments spent with her and her wonderful family, fiancé Henning and Henning’s family, I wish it could have lasted just a few days longer! But, enough reminiscing from my side.. Madali is a true beauty inside and out and she and her whole family are super creative souls – everyone was involved in some aspect of this magic day. To start with – her dear sister, Em-Renke (who is a jewellery designer) designed all the rings – Madi’s exquisite rose gold engagement ring and both the wedding bands (and aren’t they absolutely wow!), sister Alene arranged a magic bridal shower (I saw the photos and immediately wished I was there!), mother Alna and her sister Rika as well as Em-Renke sourced the flowers, vases and put it all together. Rika also made the spectacular wedding carrot cake. Ouma Dollie made the delicious dessert – her famous marshmallow treat. Melé, Rika’s daughter, did Madi’s beautiful hair and make-up. Then, a special mention goes out to the bride, Madi – she was the creative brain behind the overall look and feel of their wedding day and being a very talented designer, she set the trend with the most gorgeous invitations (see her work here)!

On the day I was blown away about how gorgeous everyone looked.  Madi, this soft vision in white and her two beautiful sisters in their 1920’s vintage pink, flowing dresses. Emsie, Em-Renke’s super adorable little girl looked equally beautiful in her flower hair piece and teal coloured dress.

Now a bit about the couple. I can still remember reading the message loaded with excitement that Madi sent me less than 2 years ago about truly having met her soul mate. How amazing that these two special souls’ paths crossed miles across the sea on a different continent from where they were born (they were both born in Bloemfontein, South Africa)! Henning is tall, dark and handsome :) – a real gentleman who is very witty, intelligent and clearly absolutely adores Madi. This is a story of true love and so much happiness and how lucky was I to be there in Sydney to document all this!! Enjoy!
