In May this year Karla Oetler form Absolut Weddings asked me to join a team of creatives at Molenvliet Wine Farm for a Vintage (…going on 2020)

shoot for the My Day magazine! Wow! I was scared, nervous and excited all at once. I did not really know what to expect when I arrived at Molenvliet on a crisp Winter’s morning. The creative brain behind this shoot is Karla herself. Her concept was to do a Vintage shoot with romantic and ‘futuristic’ elements. I was in awe when I saw the amazing stationery done by Marcel and Carla from Secret Diary  – they designed the most amazing playful die cut stationery. The gorgeous model, Lisa van Zyl wore beautiful vintage gowns by Elizabeth Stockenström. I love soft light and there is nothing so soft and warm as a winter sun. I loved the look of the last shoot we did in the Vineyards – the vineyard was completely bare and the last bit of afternoon sunlight was glowing from behind to bathe the cystal chandeliers in warm light. I used the gold side of the reflector to shed some of the gold light on Lisa.

I am so used to weddings and pointing my camera in every direction not to miss something, but I must say a shoot like this is even a little bit more demanding! So much thought goes into the planning and you work against the clock…you can’t miss anything and you must have enough footage by the end of the day so that the editor has enough to work with.
