Lize-Marie & Hendri7 August 2009 Eensgezind, Durbanville
The Malans have been family friends of ours for many years, so I was thrilled when they asked me to play a part in Lize-Marie & Hendri’s wedding. My mom and I also made the stationery items. I had been waiting in anticipation to see Lize-Marie’s dress, because there was a story behind it…her mom wore the same dress on her wedding day! Although alterations had been made to the bodice, it still had the same dreamy princess look. Lize-Marie looked like she stepped right out of a fairy tale, complete with pearly tiara and white rose bouquet. Hendri looked very chuffed when he saw his princess striding down the isle.
The whole day was so blessed, for example, the weather was unbeatable for August and we could take photos in the little town of Philidelphia where the ceremony was held, and in the canola fields close to Eensgezind. I can recall many times staring through a car window wishing to photograph a couple in those fields! The yellow blossoms simply bounce into the lens – the colour is just so intense. And yellow is such a happy colour!
The gold, white and green were a stunning colour combination at the venue and epitomize Lize-Marie and her mom’s taste. Lize-Marie was in London during most of the wedding preparations, but she knew that everything was in very competent hands back home in SA. Her mom, who does not shy away from a challenge, took on the opportunity with zest!
The reception was extra special for me, because for the first time I could take to the dance floor withoutit being ‘unprofessional behaviour’, I was a guest too after all! After the bridal couple opened the dance floor in style, guests enjoyed the sumptuous buffet and everybody had a jolly good time after that!
Dankie dat ek hierdie dag saam met julle kon deel en ek hoop julle geniet hierdie ‘preview’!
